Pillay is a contactless paediatric health-screening device developed at CREDIT, Asia Pacific University. It addresses a persistent gap in primary paediatric care: the youngest patients deteriorate fastest, yet a distressed child will not tolerate a probe, cuff, or stethoscope. In high-volume rural clinics the measurement is therefore rushed, deferred, or never taken at all.
Pillay takes the form of a desktop penguin placed at a child's eye level. Sensing apertures are integrated into the figure so that a screening encounter requires no contact, no restraint, and no instruction to the child. Over an encounter of approximately ninety seconds the device captures pulse, respiration, thermal, and acoustic indicators.
Arivaan, the onboard agent, converts these streams into a single triage flag, normal, watch, or refer with a plain-language reason the health worker can act on or overrule. Arivaan runs entirely offline on the device, returns results in nine languages including Iban and Murut, and maintains a per-child record so each reading is compared against that child's own history rather than a population average.
Pillay screens and triages. It does not diagnose, and every referral terminates with a qualified clinician.
