Bloomie: A Semiotic-Based Design Guideline for Feminine Health Communication

Communicating feminine health information is often hindered not by a lack of data, but by the visual language used to convey it. Sensitive topics, ranging from menstrual health to reproductive wellness, are frequently shrouded in clinical coldness or cultural taboos, creating barriers to understanding and engagement. This project introduces Bloomie, a structured design guideline that bridges the gap between semiotic theory and visual design practice.

Grounded in the science of signs and meanings, Bloomie provides designers with a translational framework to navigate the complexities of visual interpretation. By identifying how colors, symbols, and metaphors carry inherent cultural and emotional weight, the guideline supports the creation of empathetic, clear, and culturally sensitive health communication. The project demonstrates the application of these principles across diverse media, including packaging, digital interfaces, and educational resources. Ultimately, Bloomie aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 4 (Quality Education) by fostering a more approachable and inclusive visual landscape for feminine health literacy.
