The tourism sector in today's world is often associated with controversial issues such as the attitudes of some guest service personnel who are less friendly to tourists or visitors, subsequently giving a negative image to the tourism industry in Malaysia. The unexpected emotions of guest service personnel from time to time are often misinterpreted as unruly and arrogant. Guest service personnel have various tasks to be performed such as welcoming and assisting guests, answering phone calls, receiving messages, responding to questions, checking in and out of guests from hotels or other lodgings, and so on. This project is inspired by the way of welcoming guests in Japanese culture practiced at MARA-Japan Industrial Institute (MJII), which is to bow as a sign of respect to guests. By using this project, the problem of welcoming guests can be improved more effectively. This project uses Arduino MEGA 2560, HC-04 ultrasonic sensor, and 12V linear motor. When the HC-04 ultrasonic sensor detects the presence of guests within a specified distance, the project will bow as a sign of respect using the mechanism of the bowing system through the 12V linear motor. The benefits of this project are that it can help to ease the burden of guest service personnel and provide a more positive impact in terms of managing the image of the first guest view to the organization visited. This project can also be one of the attractions that can be shown by organizations such as colleges, universities, or tourism sectors such as hotels to attract their guests' interest.
